Outbuildings Nestled in a beautiful, serene valley in Northern San Diego County is Keys Creek Lavender Farm, San Diego County's only USDA certified organic lavender farm.

Keys Creek Lavender Farm used to be called The Lavender Fields. Paul and Ellen sold the farm and moved their company to a warehouse in Escondido. We re-named the farm after the creek that runs parallel to our property. We also are eager to strengthen our ties to this incredible community. On our road is a horse rescue called "Falcon Ridge". What an incredible organization.

Our farm has more than two dozen varieties of lavender on over 8 acres of land. We have a gift shop, we offer classes and workshops, as well as demonstrations of how we distill our own essential oil in our distillery. We have been hard at work in this off-season between '09 and '10 to add additional facilities. Again this year, we will be open to the public during the harvest season (weekends only, in May and June).

Visiting our Lavender Farm

Each year we open our doors so that visitors may experience the incredible scent and glorious sights of lavender in bloom. Most of our lavender blooms in May and June so it's then that we open from 10-5 every Saturday and Sunday to share this beauty with the public. We also book live music, have bbq available, hold distillation demonstrations, book various speakers and vendors, provide a walk & talk tour, cooking classes, tea parties, arts and crafts and much more. During our harvest season our gracious neighbors, The MorningStar Ranch, have provided donkey cart rides, very pettable baby goats, delicious catered meals, and incredible music.

Lavender on our Farm

There are over 200 varieties of lavender in the world. The colors vary from white to pale pink and blue to dark purple. Flowers can appear leafy or spiky, and stem length and bush size can vary between varieties.

In this section we describe lavandins, a cross between L. angustifolia and L. latifolia developed in the late 1920's. A common lavandin is Hidcote, one of the many varieties of lavender you'll see on our farm.

Saturday, February 13th, 2010 - Great timing for Valentine's Day gifts! Using a tiny hand-held loom students will weave a small piece of fabric and make aromatic sachets filled with freshly dried organic lavender. A variety of embellishments will be provided for decoration. You’ll also learn how to dry your own lavender and how to strip the buds to make potpourri. These little fragrant sachets are great to put in your drawer at work to inhale during stressful moments! Or for your linen drawers, or pass out to friends and loved ones. Great traveling project - the loom can easily fit in your purse. The fabric can also be used for amulet necklaces, lapel pins, pin cushions.

Students will make approx. 3 sachets and keep loom.

Introducing Alicia Wolff

We'd like to take this opportunity to introduce the new owner. Alicia Wolff, originally from South Africa, has lived in Southern California since 1989. She has a background in marketing and networking.

Her passions are her children, community service, networking, cooking, painting and event planning. When she saw The Lavender Fields in late '08 she instantly felt a connection to the land. There is an energy on this property, located in the foothills of Palomar Mountain, that brings a deep feeling of serenity, coupled with the sweet fragrance of lavender. Come and walk our living labyrinth or sit in our meditation garden. We also have a peace garden where you can plant a lavender plant in memory of a loved one. The color "lavender" is for general cancer awareness. A portion of our profits will be donated to cancer research.
